All BitNami *APPStacks and *AMPStacks Updated
We’re happy to announce that all of the BitNami *APP Stacks and *AMP Stacks have been updated to newer releases of the bundled software. In all of the Stacks, PHP was updated to version 5.2.14 and OpenSSL was updated to version 0.9.8 (note that OpenSSL is not bundled in the WAMPStack or WAPPStack.) In the MySQL-based Stacks, MySQL has been updated to version 5.1.50. In the PostgreSQL-based Stacks, PostgreSQL has been updated to version 8.4.4.
If you are not familiar with our *AMP and *APP Stacks, they are completely self-contained, ready to run development environments that include Apache, PHP, MySQL (in the AMP Stacks) or PostgreSQL (in the APP Stacks), OpenSSL (in the non-windows Stacks), PHPmyAdmin and other supporting libraries. The Stacks are available as native installers for Linux, Windows and OS X. They are also available as virtual machine images (VMs), Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for the Amazon cloud and GoGrid Server Images (GSIs) for the GoGrid cloud. And of course, they are free for you to download and use. Just visit the BitNami download page, choose the Stack that you would like to run, and you’ll be up and running in a matter of minutes!

Ramifications of Update?
It would be helpful to know if one can simply download and install the latest *AMP stack to update the currently installed stack without any negative side effects. There is nothing explicitly listed in the FAQ or Forums on UPDATING already installed Stacks with the latest versions.

Re: Ramifications of Update?
Currently you can download the new Stack and install in a different folder. Then you can migrate your application to the new Stack.
