We have recently shipped a graphical tool to simply the servers management in AMP & APP Stacks for Linux, OS X and Windows. The BitNami Manager Tool is a simple graphical interface that can start and stop the BitNami servers that are located in the same installation directory. To start the utility, double click the file named ‘manager-windows’,‘manager-linux’ or ‘manager-osx’ from your file browser. |

In addition to an updated PHP version, we include the latest release of phpMyAdmin, PEAR components and related libraries, including the much requested mcrypt extension. Amazon has recently released AWS CloudFormation , a new service that helps you describe a ‘stack’ of cloud resources and bring them up as a single unit. A CloudFormation stack can include among other resources load balancers, databases, EBS volumes and of course EC2 instances. A stack definition is called a template and can contain configuration information to be passed to the various resources being provisioned. All BitNami *APPStacks and *AMPStacks Updated |

We’re happy to announce that all of the BitNami *APP Stacks and *AMP Stacks have been updated to newer releases of the bundled software. In all of the Stacks, PHP was updated to version 5.2.14 and OpenSSL was updated to version 0.9.8 (note that OpenSSL is not bundled in the WAMPStack or WAPPStack.) There is a great post up on Techsnot (yes, a somewhat unfortunate name :) on how to install Wordpress on a Mac in under 5 minutes using the BitNami Wordpress Stack. Although the author (‘dogsnot’) installs the Stack on a Mac, the steps are the same on Windows or Linux. In a future article, the author will explain how BitNami Modules work.
