The Dashboard
The BitNami Cloud Hosting dashboard is the first thing you see after logging in. It shows you which, if any, servers you have running, the latest backups that you have made, and the estimated cost of running each of your cloud accounts per hour and month.
To launch a new server, click on the 'Create a Server' button.
Creating a Server
To add applications to a server, click on the 'Click to add new application' button and select the application(s) you want to add to the server.
Advanced Configuration
The advanced configuration screen allows you specify the operating system, server type and disk size, as well as view the estimated monthly cost of running a server with the selected specifications. This screen also enables you to select whether to use a static or dynamic IP address, and which cloud account you want to run the server on (if you have set up more than one.) Support for additional Linux distributions and Windows is coming soon.
Server Management
The server management dashboard displays the status and estimated cost of running of each of your servers. You can start and stop servers in groups, or click on the 'manage' button to manage a particular server.
The Manage Server screen enables you to make one-click backups or set an automatic backup schedule, resize the machine in one click, change the IP address, schedule when you want the server to be running and view monitoring data for the server.
Server Resizing
To resize a server, adjust the sliders and click 'okay'. The rest is handled automatically by BitNami Cloud Hosting. All of your data and configuration settings will be preserved in the new server.
Backup Scheduling
Set hourly, daily or weekly scheduled backups. Backups are made of the complete server, not just the database, and are incremental. This saves on storage costs while allowing you to restore from any point in time for which you have a backup saved.
Restoring from a Backup
To restore a server from a backup, just click on the 'restore' button next to the appropriate backup on the 'Backups' tab. You will then have the opportunity to change the specifications of the server before clicking 'ok' and starting the restoration process.
Server Scheduling
Server scheduling allows you to specify when you want the server to be running. BitNami Cloud Hosting will automatically start and stop your servers at the specified times, so you can save money by automatically shutting down servers when they are not in use.
Monitoring
In the monitoring section, you can view information regarding the specifications of your server, your CPU, memory and disk usage, as well as whether or not your MySQL and Apache services are running properly.
