Startup of MySQL with Fatal Error

Joomla Stack installed successfully on Debian Lenny Linux V5 with Desktop GNome.

Startup with Ctlscript.sh leads to “Fatal error: Can’t change to run as user ‘mysql’ ; Please check that the user exists!” in mysql.log

Have you install the Stack as a regular user or as a root user? If you have installed as a regular user you should start the servers “./ctlscript.sh” without “sudo” command.

I have installed the Stack as regular user via the Gnome desktop and I have performed the tutorial “Startup as a service”.

In this case it is necessary to install the Stack as root user. The service script is trying to start the Stack using the root user.
