KT runs incredibly slow
|
|
I have installed this on my home computer and the server at my office, however, in both cases, the program is incredibly slow (20-30 seconds just to get to the login screen, and I haven’t been able to get past that, as it will continue loading forever. I have seen complaints of slowness on the KT forums, but has anyone seen anything like this? Computer/server specs are 3ghz, 3 gigs of ram. |

It is definitely not normal. It is usually caused by either: - A faulty network configuration:sometimes having a wireless GPRS card / fixed network running at the same time produced weird errors and DNS to time out can you check if it is any of the above? |

I’ve also found it very slow to run. I’m using it on a 2003 server hosted with 1&1 and on a rather large laptop as a test server at home. Even running as Localhost it is very slow. Shame – because it really looks good. |

So I can log in to KT if I let it run for a few minutes, but I receive the 3 following errors in the dashboard (I assume that these would be causing speed problems): Open Office Server – Cannot connect to Open Office Server on host ‘localhost:8100’. Document Indexer – Cannot connect to the Document Indexer Service on ‘http://localhost:8875’. Storage Utilization – Could not locate the df binary. I have tried fixing these through the Admin settings, but the program is so unresponsive (and has crashed Firefox a few times), I haven’t had the patience to work with it too much. Is there an easy way I can fix this on the server-side? My apologies in advance for not being a bit more server/mysql literate; if it weren’t for BitNami I would have never been able to use a lot of these great programs. |

Hi, Just a quick post to let you know our friends over at Knowledge Tree have been able to reproduce the issue and are working on a fix, we will keep you updated |

Thanks Daniel (and my thanks to everyone else involved), I appreciate the support! |

Just tried an earler version from KT – there is a stack that installs well – an excellent product – I can’t wait for this one to be fixed. |

Good Afternoon, Have Knowledge Tree returned to this problem of running slow yet? I’m looking to move a number of services off site from where I work (London Adult Education College) and KT might just be the answer to problems with a shared drive that everyone uses as a dumping ground. It eats up server space and I could move this off to a hosted provider. So this is a kind of serious enquirey. |

Hi, We still do not have a fixed stack. If you need to migrate your sites, you can probably do it using the stable release (which also includes a nice BitRock installer) that can be downloaded from http://www.knowledgetree.com/ |
