How to increase course setting upload limit

How can I increase the course setting upload limit to greater than 8 MB?

I am using a moodle stack set up as a local host and want to play with big file sizes?

I have limited technical ability, so all help in plain english appreciated.

Okay, I’ve adjusted the moodle site settings for max upload and worked out that the upload limit is related to the Apache server in the stack.
I think I need to adjust the settings in apache to enable a a bigger upload limit. I’ll keep researching, but can anyone help with where to find the maximum upload settings in Apache version in the stack? Tx

Change the following value in the installdir/php/etc/php.ini on Linux and OS X or installdir/php/php.ini on Windows:

post_max_size = 8M
