Trouble getting started

started up the dev VM and got a bunch of errors:

first off it tried to make me change password which resulted in “authentication token manipulation error” “password unchanged”

i then tried to start gnome with “start gnome” command and received “failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: no such file or directory”

ill admit im a complete ubuntu and ruby virgin, this is my first foray having given up on microsoft, but this sort of thing puts me right off!

is there a complete noobs guide to this specific install out there?

The Virtual Appliances do not include a graphical system becasue it is not necessary you can install it manually form the repositories. Please check the BitNami documentation at http://wiki.bitnami.com/
