Is there any way to do it other than this? There are a number of flaws with this method.

Another approach is to install the Subversion Stack in a hosting to access remotely or in computer that you can access from internet.

I tried to access it by replacing the computer’s name with it’s IP address in the URL, but it didn’t work.

To access to your repository from a computer that is not on your LAN you should configure your router to access to it. You can read how to do that in the post.
