We are excited to announce two new Stacks for Java developers: BitNami Stack for JBoss and BitNami Stack for Apache Tomcat.

These Stacks include everything you need to run any Java application on top of Apache Tomcat or JBoss. They are available as native installers, for running on locally on your machine, as virtual machine images, for running in a virtual environment, and as AMIs, for running on the Amazon Cloud. As with all BitNami Stacks, these new Java Stacks are free of charge and ready-to-run. The installers are completely self-contained and run independently of the rest of the software or libraries installed on your system, so they won’t interfere with anything you already have installed.

These Stacks include the following components:

  • JDK 1.6.0_22

  • Apache server 2.2.16

  • Apache Tomcat 6.0.29 or JBoss 6.0.0

  • MySQL 5.1.50

  • MySQL connector Java 5.1.12

Apache server is connected through AJP protocol, which improves the server performance. This means that static pages can be served by Apache and dynamic pages can be served Tomcat or JBoss.

Do you want to do your Java development in the cloud? Check out BitNami Cloud Hosting, our new offering that simplifies the process of deploying and managing applications on the Amazon EC2 Cloud.
