We’re very excited to announce that we have updated the BitNami Magento Stack to include Beetailer, which provides automatic integration of your Magento store with Facebook. In just minutes, you can be driving 20% or more of your sales through Facebook and benefiting from the social networks of your customers.
We attempted to put together the most entertaining press release that we could to share this great news, but our distribution service declined to publish it, so we had to tone down the official release. Thankfully, we have no such filter on our blog, so we’re pleased to bring you the original release in its full glory (okay, “glory” might be a stretch, but at least give us some credit for trying to make it slightly less painful to read than slamming your finger in the window):
Social Commerce, Cloud, Open Source, a Y-Combinator company… If you are thinking that this announcement could not possibly get any more buzzword-compliant, well, you are right! But it is not our fault. Social commerce is hot, really hot. Every eCommerce retailer in the world is trying to figure out how to use Facebook to grow their business. This is where the BitNami – Beetailer partnership comes in. BitNami has developed a one-click installation solution for Magento, the world’s fastest growing ecommerce solution. Beetailer has developed a service that automatically integrates any Magento store with Facebook. When you put them together, you have an out-of-the-box solution for social commerce that can be up and running literally in minutes!
“Our goal with BitNami has been to help developers and end-users deploy open source applications. Magento is the latest addition to our catalog and the number one request from nearly every solution provider we spoke with. You asked, we delivered!”, said Daniel Lopez Ridruejo, founder and CTO of BitNami.
“With the large and growing number of online stores, it is critical for merchants to offer sophisticated storefronts that are unique, reliable and that leverage social networking to drive sales. Combining BitNami Cloud Hosting, Magento and Beetailer provides merchants with the platform they need to deploy, manage and get the most out of their online store,” said Laura Valverde, CEO of Beetailer.
So, now that we got you all excited and pumped up, how do you get started? First, visit the BitNami website, where you can find Magento native installers, virtual machines and cloud images for the Amazon cloud. Best of all, they are free! Then, visit the Beetailer website to learn about how Beetailer works with Magento to bring your online store to Facebook.
Finally, and this is where the cloud comes into play, BitNami has also integrated Magento into its BitNami Cloud Hosting service, which provides one click deployment and management of the new stack and the rest of the BitNami library for the Amazon cloud. That means that when you launch a Magento server using the BitNami Cloud Hosting service, it is automatically monitored and backed up and can be scaled up or down as needed.
We know that, at the end of the day, this is a software release, and it is difficult to get excited about software (unless it is a videogame!) but let us share this: some of the stores that have installed Beetailer have had more than 20% of their sales come from their Facebook store within just a few weeks of implementing it. Granted, this is not necessarily the case for every single Beetailer user, but short of giving stuff away, we cannot think of an easier way to increase sales. Giving it a try isn’t going to hurt, so what are you waiting for?
