hi All,

what is the best way to make sure that your Alfresco is backed up? I’m running it on SME Server 7.4 (centos based)

Thanks,
Louis

Hi,

The most easy and secure way is:

1. Stop the servers
2. Copy the whole folder.

You can copy this folder in the same path in a different linux machine to restore it (it is not necessary to restore in the same OS).

I hope it helps.

Hi, I have make the backup, copy the folder in a different linux machine, but ctlscript.sh is not working. Nothing happens when I type ./ctlscript.sh start, or sh ./ctlscript.sh…any error message, nothing? Whats the problem with it?

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

Hi,

Have you copied the the directory in the same location? Is it a 32bits distribution or a 64 bits?

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Thanks..Its from a Ubuntu Server 64bits installation to a VMWare Ubuntu Server 64bits machine.

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

And yes, its in the same directory

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

In this case you need to install the compat libraries to run 32 bits applications in 64 bits platforms:

$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Cheers.

Update…I have copied again, uncompressed the tar.gz file of backup, and now when I run script, several errors are showed:
exec: 2: /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/bin/my_print_defaults.bin: not found
exec: 2: /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/bin/my_print_defaults.bin: not found

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

I will try with this libraries..thanks

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Hi, Beltran.
I have installed that compat libraries, server rebooted and now the error is
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe Logging to ‘/opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data/mysqld.log’.
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data/ubuntu-casero.localdomain.pid ended
Thanks in advance

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

I have reinstalled Alfresco from the beginning and I have the same problem, but now I have seen that during installation there was port problems with mysql and tomcat. I will check it.

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Problem continues…I have checked that ports are redirected to virtual machine, firewall are disabled, but the same error is showed
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe Logging to ‘/opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data/mysqld.log’.
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data
100204 12:48:23 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file /opt/alfresco-3.0-2/mysql/data/ubuntu-casero.localdomain.pid ended
Any ideas??
It is possible that affects the fact that the virtual machine has different ip than alfresco original server??

Could you post the mysql log file? /mysql/data/mysqld.log

Hi

It seems a permissions error. Could you try the following?

$ sudo chown -R mysql:mysql /opt/alfresco-<version>/mysql/data

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Error continues. I will install a fresh install of ubuntu server and try in it. I will post here the results. Thanks.

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Fresh installation with LAMP and Samba. Extracted the backup file in the same folder than source server. Error continue …

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

Hi,

I saw the same problem in this post. Could you try that solution? http://mysoftskill.blogspot.com/2009/11/mysql-p…

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Checked and it not works…I’m totally confused, because in the original server all was fine and I had any problems to install.

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

Did you checked the RAM memory? Do you have 1024 Mb or more? Please check the following bug in MySQL http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=13002
Is the “TMPDIR” environment variable set correctly? Is the /tmp folder writable by the mysql user?

Avatar evayroberto 25 post(s)

Hi, problem solved. It was an stupid error….. I was extracting it in the root home folder, not in / .
Sorry and many, many thanks for your help.

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

Hehe :) I’m glad to hear this.

Avatar andrewedward... 30 post(s)

Which folder are you referring to when you say, ‘the whole folder’?

Avatar Beltrán Rueda Administrator 3,714 post(s)

I’m referring to the installation directory. If you are using the Virtaul Appliance or the Amazon image the Stack is installed in /opt/bitnami.
