Complete noob to linux, aws etc.

I have everything up and running except for one thing

In the phpmyadmin 3.3.10 app it keeps asking for mcrypt

“Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.”

What I have done so far

1. apt-get mcrypt and php5-mcrypt
2. uncommented the extension=mcrypt.so in mcrypt.ini
3. restarted apache

phpmyadmin still asking for mcrypt

checked via aptitude shows them both present

4. based on a web post added the php-mcrypt extension line in php.ini
5. restarted apache

phpmyadmin still asking for mcrypt

also tried moving mcrypt.so to the same directory as mcrypt.ini based on another post and same results

6. Officially pulling my hari out HELP!

Hi,

We are working to include mcrypt and the phpMyAdmin 3.3.10 version. We will release a new version very soon.
