hi,
sorry,i’m very new to bitnami and EC2.
i have just setup a instance with AMI id ami-7fcb9b3a which is customized for WordPressin amazon EC2,and everything is going well. but i want to know how can i bind my own domain name with the wordpress application,like example.com,and not the public hostname of the instance XXX-XXX.us-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com/wordpress .
by the way, my domain name registered in godady.com .

have a nice day and thanks,
adam

Hi,

The process is the following:

1. Go to the AWS console
2. Network → Elastic IPs → Allocate new IP
3. Once you have the IP you have to point the domain name to the new IP in godady.com or where you bought your domain.

4. In the Wordpress case it is necessary to update the database. It is easy, you only have to login in your machine by SSH and run the following command:

$ sudo /opt/bitnami/updateip —machine_hostname mydomain.com

This tool update the domain name when the machine reboots. In case that you use your own domain move the “updateip” tool to another location.

Regards,

Beltran

Try to enable/disable the pretty links in the settings. This option creates the following file “/opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/.htaccess”, check that this file has the correct “RewriteBase” option or change it. I hope it helps.
