Hi guys,

I just have a quick question. I heard that instell those personal all in one infrastructure stacks like Xampp and Wamp is only for personal use and toying with the software, but for full scale deployment one has to either install moodle and its dependencies one by one then configure them OR virtualize by using linux. I have a windows 2003 server, and I will be using moodle for about 5000+ users, which of the three above ways should I choose.

Thanks

I would recommend you to use linux. If you have a windows 2003 you can try to use the Virtual Appliance and you can manage the RAM size. The Stack advantage is that you can copy the folder to another Linux machine and it works perfectly, or you can do a backup easily. Migration is also easy because you can install the new application and try to migrate your database.
