I have a quesstion about redmine mysql DB backup. My redmine’s version is 1.2.1

When I type the command to backup the database:
\installdir\mysql\bin\mysqldump -u root -p bitnami_redmine > e:\backup.sql

it output:

Enter password: **********
mysqldump: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user ’root’@’localhost’ (using password: YES) when trying to connect

It seems the password’s mistake.

But i tried these two passwords: root, bitnami,it also doesn’t work.

I found the file /installdir/apps/redmine/config/database.yml, it shows,
adapter: mysql
database: bitnami_redmine
host: localhost
username: bitnami
password: 68cee79453
port: 3306
reconnect: true
encoding: utf8

I thied the username “bitname” and the password “68cee79453”, i can NOT backup the database too.

so,which is the right user and password? or which step am i wrong?
Anyone who can help me?

Many thanks.

OK,i know the raeson.
The username is root, the password is that you given when you installed remine.(the first installion input page)
so,the yml file showes the encoding password “68cee79453”.

Right, the user is root and the password is the same that you set during the installation. The “bitnami” user is only to connect the application with the database for security reasons.
