Hi.

I’m trying to backup the MySQL database via mysqldump and need the root account for this.

What are the default username and password for the MySQL root account?
I tried the ones I specified during the installation, and which I use for redmine administration – but it doesn’t work.

Regards.

Hi,

The MySQL root user is “root” and the password is the same that the Redmine administrator.

Cheers.

Hi.

I just tried that:
mysql -uroot -P 4406 -p

But still getting:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)

Any idea?

Or the only way is to reset the root password?

Regards.

Have you configured MySQL in 4406 port during the Redmine Stack installation? It is strange but it is possible.

Try the following:

$ cd <installation_directory>
$ ./use_redminestack
$ mysql -u root -p

If you execute the “use_redmine” script, you are using the Stack commands instead of the external commands. In this case mysql client knows the port and the socket.

I hope it helps.

Hi.

I used port 4406 indeed, as the 3306 taken by another, pre-installed MySQL.

The use_redmine approach worked :).

Any idea why the regular command line doesn’t work?

Thanks!

Maybe you should specify the socket. Try the following:

$ mysql -u root -S <installation_directory>/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock -p
