Not able to get to tomcat after restart

I installed a tomcat stack VM and after restarting the VM I cannot get to http://localhost:8080 or http://127.0.0.1:8080 or using the actual IP of the VM.

If I try to run the ctlscript.sh again it says that mysql and tomcat are already running.

Any thoughts on why I can’t get to the tomcat server, on the same machine?

Thanks,
Ed

Hi,

Could you check the VMWare network settings. If you have configure your network as BRIDGE you can access to it from other computers in your network. If you have set as NAT probably not.

Hey Beltran,
Thanks for the reply, but I am just trying to run it from the VM it is installed in. After the restart I cannot get to the tomcat running in firefox on the VM.

It seems to not run after restarting and I can’t find anything on your site to explain how to get things to work after a restart. I found your setting up as a service, but following those instructions on Ubuntu 10.10 does not work, it gets an error about not being LSB compliant when doing the update command indicated in your web pages instructions.

So far I have not been able to get a bitnami VM tomcat stack or native tomcat stack to work again after a reboot in either your VM or a VM I have built from scratch. So if you could point me to some working instructions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Please try to login in the Virtual Machine and check if the services are running:

$ cd /opt/bitnami
$ ./ctlscript.sh status
