Is the mysql server running? Go to the services panel and try to find the “wampMySQL” service. Could you post the /mysql/data/mysqld.log file?

I have installed a copy of WAMP 1.2.1 in Microsoft VirtualPC. It is found whenever the system want to start the MySQL. The system will show a message mysqld.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. As a result, when I try to install Wordpress, it cannot find the database system. Any similar experience?
(I have posted this message in the wrong forum so I put in here again.)

The wampMySQL is not started. I shall post the /mysql/data/mysqld.log if I can find it.

Hi,

How much RAM memory does the server have? Could you try increasing the amount of RAM in the machine to 1G?

Hi,

Same happens after I have increased the RAM to 1G. I attach two error reports.

Hi,

I think there is a size limit of the attachment so only one error report is attached.

Hi,

Could you tell us which Windows version are you using?

Hi,

I found myself having the same problem. I found that recreating the service helped me resolve the problem.

Command used for creating the new service:
C:/PROGRA~1/BITNAM~1/mysql/bin/mysqld.exe -install wampstackMySQL "-defaults-file=C:/PROGRA~1/BITNAM~1/mysql/my.ini"

I am only guessing but I think having space characters in path is the cause of the problem.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for posting it. By default is enabled 8:3 notation but it could be disabled and cause problems like this. Could you check the following?

fsutil.exe behavior query disable8dot3

If it returns 1, 8:3 notation is disabled.
