WAMP Stack extremely slow when not using ip address
|haydin 1 post||
In our LAN, we have 5 computers. One of them acts as a server. On this ‘server’, we installed wampstack, and then the mantis module, followed by mediawiki module.
From one of the other machines, when we type:
`ping officesrv` and `ping 192.168.2.4` returns identical latencies, so the network latency itself does not appear to be a problem.
We suspected that there is a problem with name resolution, but all other uses of http://officesrv/ work really fast. For example, we have a subversion server at http://officesrv:82/, another service running at http://officesrv:84, and they all work without a problem when using the hostname. It is just the bitnami installed stack that is showing the mysterious slow behavior.
Any ideas that might help us diagnose what the problem is would be appreciated.

It could be an Apache configuration issue resolving domain names. A possible workaround is to add the domain name in the “hosts” file in the server machine:
