For anyone else considering SSL, I had to install the latest version of OpenSSL to make it work. There was an incompatibility in the versions or some such.

Can you elaborate on how you installed the latest openssl on this stack? I tried running openssl from command line to create a server.key and ran into a missing ordinal 942 in LIBEAY32.dll. If I assume this is an indication of the non-working openssl for this stack, then I wonder what windows customization I need for openssl in order to work directly with the WAPPStack. If you have openssl up and running with this stack, please take a moment to outline your steps to replace the openssl support. Thank you!

Hi,

Could you tell us some references to the issue? We would like to fix in the Stack if it is possible.

Sure. I’m not certain if my symptoms are the same as mhartman. For me, I found that the openssl binary in the apache/bin directory would not run, and reported a missing import ordinal 942 in LIBEAY32.dll. I downloaded and have been running the latest windows binary for openssl 0.9.8I for Win32 from ShiningLight. It runs the command line function which allows the certificate generation for https, but; so far I do not have it working with the WAPP stack. I generated a self-signed certificate, but; I haven’t been able to enable the https protocol on my server. I’d have no problem assisting in the testing to get this function working in your WAPP stack. Please let me know how I can help. Thanks.

BTW, I got the SSL working using the windows build of openssl I mentioned. I don’t the builds reliance on the redistributable MS C library which requires a separate install. I’m a beginner setting up Apache ssl, but; I hope to have an expert understanding in a few days. That maybe optimistic; looks like apache has many configuration options.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. We have finally able to reproduce it.

Cheers,

Victoria.

I’m experiencing the same error on the RubyStack. This is also my first time doing Apache SSL. I am going to try what lisanke did but was looking for any advice. It looks like the Ruby Stack had the openssl.exe and 2 other .dlls whereas the windows installer has many more files. Should I just replace the files or do I install it to a particular folder?

Hi,

We are looking into this and it is likely we release new infrastructure stacks with this fixed tomorrow or early next week. We’ll keep you posted.
