Hey,

I have a large database…about 20mb, that I need to import into PHP MyAdmin. I went in and edited the php.ini file to accept a higher upload size, but so far it just causes my beachballing and hang time.

I’d like to do a command line dump of an sql file into the local bitnami database. But I’m not sure of how to do that. Usually I just do this: mysql -hHOSTNAME -uUSER -pPASSWORD DATABASE < DUMPED_TEXTFILE

could someone tell me the Hostname to use? (localhost or…other?) and where to keep the sql file? (ie: in the root folder bitnami is installed in?)

Thanks!

Nadine

Hi,

You can find info about MySQL backups at http://wiki.bitnami.com/Components/MySQL

Hi,

That was very helpful, thank you. I am still not too sure on where to put the database I am importing. So for example, I have bitnami installed into “sites/today/wp” Currently my sql file to import is in the “wp” directory along with the the other scripts. But when i go to import it, I am told the file can not be found. Do I have to type out a direct path? Or place it in a different place? ie: in the mysql folder, or the php folder etc…

Thanks.

Nadine

It seems that you are specifying properly the path to the file. Try to move to another location and specify the correct path.

Hmm, I think I found the reason. Here’s hoping.

I’m glad to hear that.
