Topic: WordPress / adding a vhost

Thanks for your help. I chowned the directory and then edited the file successfully. I then reset the amazon instance but now I cannot ssh back onto the server! It just times out when I try. I have also rebooted the server but I still can’t connect.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,

Sorry I’m not familiar with Akeeba kickstart. You can find a quick guide about the Joomla! installation at http://wiki.bitnami.com/Applications/BitNami_Joomla!_Stack I hope it helps.

Topic: WordPress / Mac OSX Install - No Welcome Screen

I am currently trying to install a Bitnami wordpress (Intel) stack on Mac OS X (version 10.6.8 with 2.66GHz Intel Core i7). Whenever, I have tried to open the installer after unzipping, it asks if I want to open an application from the internet to which I click OK but there is no welcome screen even after waiting for 10 minutes. I have tried turning off any firewalls and was wondering if there is a way round this or whether I have done something wrong?

I’ve just realized that in the ERP category of the “Catalog” page of Bitnami site, appears also TinyERP, which was, until 2008, the name of the actual named OpenERP. Today, it’s the Open source # 1 ERP+CRM solution.

I’ve just realized there is a little link (“Catalog”) to reach the page with all the categories and apps that people can vote. I apologize for part of my anterior post.

I’ve been reading about your Bitnami Studio Beta page (and signed up for it) mostly for installing and running OpenERP on Bitnami Cloud Hosting.

OpenERP is already present in Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroun, Canada, Cape Verde, China, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Croatia, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, France, France (Antilles-Guyane), French Polynesia, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Kenya, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Martinique (French), Mauritius, Mongolia, Morocco, Mexico, Netherlands, New Caledonia, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Norway, Qatar, Reunion Island, Romania, Senegal, Singapour, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United States, United Kingdom and still expanding… Just Bitnami didn’t get noticed.
You should give a watch also to Tryton (a very HQ OpenERP fork with a more reduced functionalities scope) and of course, to ADempiere.

Topic: General / Please, include more Open Source ERPs!

Bitnami list of apps to vote for next Bitnami stacks shows only one ERP app (the less community oriented one).
There are more options, mature and excellent: OpenERP, Weberp, ADempiere, Dolibarr.
OpenERP and ADempiere, are more complete, functional and technologically advanced than Openbravo, which is posed as a unique voting option by Bitnami.
Think about a country with only one political party and only one presidential candidate. In such a country, by sure people can’t vote the party/candidate they think is the best.
Openbravo is the very only ERP candidate in the Bitnami country.
Not a clever way to get a useful stack!

Could you try to access at http://127.0.0.1:8080 ? Could you check that the servers are running the Windows service panel? The name of the servers depends on the Stack: redmineApache, wordpressMySQL, etc.

Hi Rob,

Try to load the Virtual Machine again. In the first page before login you can see that the console login is “bitnami” / “bitnami” and it requests a new password.

Topic: General / Can't start BitNami

I installed bitnami on my computer. It asked for an Apache port 80. When I clicked next the installation program gave me an error and asked that I choose a different port. I changed the port to 8080. I then named localhost as the host server. After the program installed and tried to start, the URL in the browser window is http://g2varrato-pc:8080/ but there is an error page.

Please help.

Beltran,

Thanks for the help, that user and pass did not work for me. Is have also tried user/bitnami, root/bitnami, user/redmine, redmine/bitnami, and bitnami/readmine. It has been a while since I set the machine up so I am not sure that I did not change the password and now have forgotten it. I am downloading a fresh copy now to see if that helps any.

Thanks again,
Rob Hix

Topic: Redmine / Redmine Stack VM Questions...

Hi,

The first login to the VM console is:

user: bitnami
pass: bitnami

Then it should be automatically changed. If you you can change it using the “passwd” command.

You can find info about migrate the data or the full directory in the following links:

http://wiki.bitnami.com/Applications/BitNami_Redmine_Stack#How_to_upgrade_Redmine.3f

http://wiki.bitnami.com/Native_Installers_Quick_Start_Guide#How_to_upgrade_the_full_Stack_migrating_the_data.3f

I hope it helps.

Hi,

Check if the services are running in the Windows service panel and try to start them (redmineMongrel). Yoy can also take a look to the log files (your_installdir/apps/redmine/log/*) to see if there is any error.

Topic: Redmine / Redmine Stack VM Questions...

I am currently using the Bitnami redmine stack VM and have a couple of questions.

(1) When the VM starts, there is a username and password to log into the VM. Does anyone know what these are? The passwords given on the download page for the VM do not work.

(2) In the not too distant future, we will migrate from the VM to our own server or to the BitNami platform application. When this comes along, how to I migrate the data from the VM to the new server/bitnami app?

I am sorry if these questions have been answered, but I have been unable to find the answers.

Thanks,
Rob Hix

Topic: WordPress / Idiots Guide Needed Please

Hi

The problem is that Skype uses the 80 port so you can not configure the Apache server in this port. You can use 81 for example and the BitNami Stack will configure everything to use this port.

Topic: WordPress / Idiots Guide Needed Please

I have downloaded Bitnami and have run into problems already on the install at the web server point where it is asking me to ‘.. enter the port that the bundled Apache server will will listen to by default’ The Apache Web Server box has the figure 80 in it by default. However when I click on next, a warning message saying ‘unable to bind to the given port number. Please select another one.’ I do run Skype so this may have occuped the port. what do I do? How do I set another port number. I am running XP by the way.

Grateful for any solutions. Please speak as if you are talking to an 8 year old!!! I m not technical at all
