Topic: General / FOSSwire review

Hi Jacob,

To be honest we were all nicely surprised this morning when we saw our BitNami project appear on fosswire.com!
We really appreciate your positive feedback and the effort you have put into reviewing our stacks and making such nice blogpost.

Your feedback will certainly be taking into account, as a matter of fact we are already working on improvements as we speak.
In case you have any more comments/suggestions, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thanks,

Pieter

Someone here might have heard of this already:

http://fosswire.com/2007/09/27/bitnami-stacks/
(and what’s a review without a little publicity? http://digg.com/software/Instant_Web_Site_with_BitNami_Stacks )

Just finished with that post. Hope ya like it. These stacks are truly awesome, and I’d love to see them get some publicity.

Great job on them, and good luck with whatever you all are developing!

Jacob

I’m sorry, my fault. MySQL is not being included in the stack :)

DokuWiki does not use a Database, so you can safely drop the MySQL instance from the package.

Hi Jacob,

We are currently working on porting DokuWiki, Drupal, Joomla!, MediaWiki and WordPress to Linux, and hopefully those stacks will be out early next week. Stay tuned to these forums, as we will post something when we finally release the new versions :)

We will also bear in mind your suggestion about Java-less stacks in future team meetings, and we will reply to this same post when we have more details about it.

Thank you for posting in the forums, your feedback is very appreciated.

I’ve tried both of the Linux stack installers and I have to say I’m very impressed. Everything ran flawlessly.

I only have two suggestions:
1. More Linux stacks/installers
2. Offer a Java-less version of the stacks that use Java. 100MB is quite an addition to the package.

Nice work. :)

Topic: DokuWiki / BitNami DokuWiki 0.9.1 released

BitNami DokuWiki 0.9.1 is a Microsoft Windows only stack (will be soon ported to Linux), and it includes Apache 2.0.59 and PHP 5.2.3.

Topic: Stacks suggestions / Python/Ruby

Yes, although our initial focus is on PHP and Java applications, we plan on providing both Python and Ruby stacks as well as packaged applications. Some of the apps that we are planning on including are Trac and RedMine. Suggestions of specific packages are welcome.

Do you plan on supporting Python or Ruby applications?
