SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 21, 2016 — GoDaddy, Inc. (NYSE: GDDY), the world's largest technology provider dedicated to small businesses, today expands its hosting offering to offer Cloud Servers and Bitnami-powered Cloud Applications.
GoDaddy Cloud Servers are virtual servers which run on GoDaddy's cloud computing environment, enabling customers to deploy Cloud Applications and host their websites. GoDaddy Cloud Servers and Cloud Applications are designed to help the underserved market of individual developers, tech entrepreneurs and IT professionals quickly build, test, and scale cloud solutions as well as help their clients.
Known for its award-winning 24/7 customer support, GoDaddy provides a distinct competitive advantage against hosting-only providers. Cloud Servers are integrated with a suite of GoDaddy products and multiple APIs, such as Domains and DNS that allow customers to manage and maintain new and existing domains and subdomains. Unique to GoDaddy, the product is also releasing in 26 languages, 44 countries/territories in 53 markets.
With 54-second (or less) provisioning, virtual instances can be built, tested, cloned and destroyed almost instantly. Powered by a simple yet powerful API or User Interface, Cloud Servers provide developers complete control over their servers and include concise in-app documentation. Additionally, by featuring snapshots, users are allowed to save their configurations and launch new servers with that image in seconds, instead of starting from scratch.
The platform offers a "pay as you go" utility billing model and the flexibility to meet the needs of customers. They only pay for what they use on an hourly basis and up to a monthly limit if they choose.
GoDaddy's Cloud Applications are powered by Bitnami, the leading library for open source server application deployments. This partnership provides one-click optimized installation for application solutions like CMS (eg: WordPress and Drupal), CRM (eg: Odoo and OpenERP) and eCommerce (eg: OpenCart and Magento).
In line with GoDaddy's commitment to open source technology, the new Cloud Servers offering is built on OpenStack and powered by purpose-built KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) virtualization. With SSDs across the board, Cloud Servers offer excellent performance due to very fast I/O.
"With the launch of Cloud Servers, GoDaddy aims to extend our lead as the number one trusted provider of Cloud Hosting solutions for individual developers and technologists. We're looking to make it easy for developers to serve small businesses with the technology they want. By offering a powerful yet simple cloud offering, that integrates domains, DNS, security, and backups all in one place, developers can save time and exceed their clients' expectations," said Jeff King, SVP & GM Hosting, Security at GoDaddy.
"As GoDaddy's technology partner on Cloud Applications, we're excited for GoDaddy's international customer base to take advantage of our capabilities - joining the millions of developers and business users who save time and effort with our library's consistent, secure and optimized end-user experience. We're proud to partner with GoDaddy in serving this global market of advanced SMB-focused developers," says Erica Brescia COO and Co-Founder at Bitnami.
The launch is the latest example of GoDaddy's commitment to technology and product development with and for the professional developer community, for whom it provides GoDaddy Pro, a program offering free tools and support for designers and developers.
