Bitnami and StackpointCloud Partner to Deliver Managed Multi-Cloud Serverless Solution

Kubeless framework enables cloud flexibility and globally redundant serverless compute to build new breed of self-healing and self-scaling distributed applications on fully managed Kubernetes clusters for Stackpoint.io users

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - September 05, 2017 — — Bitnami, the leading provider of packaged applications for any platform, announced today that it has partnered with StackpointCloud to offer the Kubeless serverless computing framework in the Stackpoint.io platform. With this partnership, StackpointCloud expands its portfolio of services to include managed serverless computing. The combined offering enables developers to access the Kubeless serverless framework through the Stackpoint.io platform, expanding their infrastructure, application and compute options while leveraging an enterprise-class Kubernetes management system.

As applications and their packaging requirements have evolved with innovations like containers and serverless computing enabling developers to design distributed applications, Bitnami has invested heavily in tools to meet that need. One key initiative has been the work on the Kubeless kubernetes-native serverless platform. Kubeless provides a function as a service solution that runs on top of a Kubernetes cluster, delivering a serverless implementation out of the box that is CLI compatible with Google cloud functions and supports Python, Nodejs and Ruby language runtimes.

Stackpoint.io is the only product that allows users to easily deploy and manage applications, workloads, Kubernetes, and serverless infrastructure across all the leading cloud infrastructure platforms. The platform includes: drop-in logging and monitoring with EFK, Prometheus, Sysdig and more; tools for enforcing network policy (Calico) and container runtime security (Twistlock); the ability to manage Kubernetes upgrades in a single click; the ability to scale and manage nodes automatically, manually or in pools; and redundancy. To date, more than six thousand Kubernetes clusters have been built using Stackpoint.io.

Developers leveraging the integration between Stackpoint.io and Bitnami will benefit from:

  • The ability to choose cloud providers based on resources, cost and spot pricing
  • Globally redundant serverless compute, on-demand for developers who are testing, building and deploying applications
  • Self-healing and self-scaling serverless infrastructure, including the ability to add nodes as application use spikes or pool them by size, and the ability to remove nodes when in the trough of usage
  • 100% isolated private serverless with no resource content among other tenants
  • Fully managed Kubernetes

“Bitnami made an early commitment to Kubernetes and we believe that serverless is going to be the next generation of application architecture deployed on Kubernetes,” says Sebastien Goasguen, Senior Director Cloud Technologies, Bitnami. “We are excited to be working with the StackPointCloud team, which has been leading k8s cluster provisioning and management on multi-cloud. Our partnership will enable customers to simply deploy the Kubeless Kubernetes-native serverless platform in their Kubernetes clusters.”

“The goal of this partnership is to provide software developers with options when building and managing Kubernetes-based applications,” says Matt Baldwin, founder and CEO of StackPointCloud. “Kubeless, by Bitnami, is the leading serverless framework for Kubernetes, and therefore a natural partner to StackPointCloud.”

Serverless Now - Give it a Shot

Kubeless is immediately available for AWS, Google Compute, Azure, and DigitalOcean. As an added bonus, if you’re a DigitalOcean user, use the coupon code DOKUBERNETES15 to get $15.00 in credit to build and play with containers, serverless, and more.
