Why use the Bitnami WordPress Stack?
Bitnami makes it easy to run WordPress in the cloud, locally or virtually. The Bitnami WordPress Stack is:
We track every release of WordPress and update our stack shortly after it's released.
If serious security issues are discovered, we provide new versions of WordPress as soon as possible, often within hours of the availability of a fix.
With Bitnami, you get the same software stack and configuration regardless of where you are deploying WordPress or other Bitnami Applications. This makes it easy to migrate between different platforms.
With the Bitnami WordPress Stack stack compiling, configuring and all of its dependencies are taken care of, so it works out-of-the-box.
Reviews of Bitnami WordPress Write a Review →
On April 25th, 2014, I submitted a review of the then-current state of affairs of Bitnami WordPress. Since then, Bitnami has made an improvement in the installation, although it comes with one new drawback.
With the earlier (WordPress 3.9.0) version of Bitnami WordPress, the install had to be in the Applications folder (Mac OS X). Now, you can choose where you want Bitnami to install WordPress (version 4). This helps keep the clutter in your Applications folder to a minimum.
The trade-off is that before, you could have separate accounts on your computer, and each account would have it's own WordPress files under Bitnami. With the new version of the installer, every account on your computer sees the same WordPress install, and thus, the same files.
If you need separate WordPress installs for separate accounts, though, you can install Bitnami WordPress multiple times, once for each account where you need it.
However you decide to set it up, Bitnami WordPress still offers the best way to develop locally.
This is so easy to install and run. I had no problem getting it up In five minutes. I think that this is the easiest I've ever did something web related with Wordpress. This software makes it so much easier to install.
Bitnami provides one of the easiest ways for people to try out Wordpress, as a developer I can develop and deploy sites in next to no time!
I was able to set up a new Wordpress instance in about 5 mins. Very user friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone doing WP install on AWS.
I was using Azure Websites with WordPress on SQL database, and I did not like it, because of certain plugins not working right, then I found this image on Azure VM. So I tried installing and boom it works. I was looking for a Linux and MySQL database option, and I got it from Bitnami. Thanks for that!
