Ready to take your personal productivity to the next level? If you’re like a lot of productivity junkies, you’ve probably read David Allen’s book, Getting Things DoneTM . Tracks is a Rails based app built to help you put the Getting Things Done plan into action. Tracks can be set up for multiple users for collaboration and group work.

Why use the Bitnami Tracks Stack?

Bitnami makes it easy to run Tracks in the cloud, locally or virtually. The Bitnami Tracks Stack is:

  • Up-to-date

We track every release of Tracks and update our stack shortly after it's released.

  • Secure

If serious security issues are discovered, we provide new versions of Tracks as soon as possible, often within hours of the availability of a fix.

  • Consistent

With Bitnami, you get the same software stack and configuration regardless of where you are deploying Tracks or other Bitnami Applications. This makes it easy to migrate between different platforms.

With the Bitnami Tracks Stack compiling, configuring and all of its dependencies are taken care of, so it works out-of-the-box.

    Online or offline?

    by Marek Sklenka on

Tracks is the best GTD software I've tried so far. It is very good for implementing the methodology strictly. There are two ways you can use it:

    1. run it locally on your computer with software like bitnami

    2. run it on a web server

Make sure you choose the right one, both have advantages and disadvantages. The main ones are:

+ don't need internet connection to work with it

    - this way Tracks can only be accessed from one device (not from your phone for example)

    - You might encounter problems if you are running another virtual server on your computer if you host websites locally, like if you are building a wordpress site. I am using Wampserver and everytime I want to use it, I have to disable Tracks and the enable it again once I'm finished. This can be inconvenient

+ you can access it from any device with internet connection, like from your phone when you're outside of office

    - you need to pay for hosting or find a way to host the software for free

    - can't be used offline

Getting things done by getting out of the way

    by Nathan Leeds on

Tracks is an app that works hard to get out of the way, implementing hidden key commands and giving multiple views of your workload to work seamlessly with your own system of organization.

This also has a fantastic ways to access the information outside of the main app, allowing you to continue keeping on track with whatever your preferred device or app is.

When this is combined with the extreme portability of Bitnami, you've got a recipe for organization where ever you find some space CPU cycles.

Take a look at learning the shortcuts to help this app operate at the speed of your thoughts.
