The Bitnami MODX Stack provides a one-click install solution for MODX. Download installers and virtual machines, or run your own MODX server in the cloud.

As a flexible and modular platform with hundreds of plugins available and a vibrant and growing community behind it, what’s not to love about MODX? MODX has billed itself as a content management system with “complete design freedom.” In practice, it means that MODX does a good job of separating the content and presentation layers of your site. MODX allow you to create as many HTML templates as possible and point them at your CSS URLs. For additional creative freedom, you can also create “tags” – chunks of HTML – that can be used on any page on your site. MODX pulls the templates, CSS and tags together to create rich, dynamic websites.

Why use the Bitnami MODX Stack?

Bitnami makes it easy to run MODX in the cloud, locally or virtually. The Bitnami MODX Stack is:

  • Up-to-date

We track every release of MODX and update our stack shortly after it's released.

  • Secure

If serious security issues are discovered, we provide new versions of MODX as soon as possible, often within hours of the availability of a fix.

  • Consistent

With Bitnami, you get the same software stack and configuration regardless of where you are deploying MODX or other Bitnami Applications. This makes it easy to migrate between different platforms.

With the Bitnami MODX Stack compiling, configuring and all of its dependencies are taken care of, so it works out-of-the-box.

    Great and simple

    by Konstantin Korukov on

I have entered and tried to change some elements at homepage. Works great! Recommend to all newbies! In future, developers should allow 2-hours session instead 1-hour.

    Localhost MODX Stack

    by Susan Ottwell on

This was really nice. Not only does it install a full Apache/PHP/MySQL stack, it installs MODX (Revolution 2.3.1 as of this writing) with a form for the MODX Manager user requirements, and even the option of configuring an external SMTP mail server (gmail server by default). No fuss, no muss, no bother at all. The stack's sofware list is impressive as well.

Like MAMP, it includes a nice little management app that goes nicely into the Dock.

What was really exciting was that, unlike MAMP, it installs on external media. I have MODX on a stick! Of course, it's very slow but it would probably be a lot better on something besides USB2.
